- Not just for axolotls --- Please note that your axolotl amphibians are antisocial and you house one pet in one tank. If you own multiple pets, you can make use of it with shrimps, snails, and fish. With time, the 10 leaves would soften and these pets will start to use the leaves as they see fit. Shrimps have been known to nibble on soft leaves, while fish sometimes hide under them.
