- ✅WHEN DOES TIMING GEAR NEED TO BE REPLACED: When the car is turned off, open the upper cover of the valve chamber, and then use a wrench to twist the camshaft to observe whether the VVT actuator deviates by a certain angle. If there is no deviation, the timing gear is good; Otherwise, if it rotates, it means that it is damaged.
